Quique Sanchez Flores: Keeping Watford up would be my greatest achievement

Quique Sanchez Flores believes keeping Watford in the Premier League this season would be the biggest achievement of his managerial career.

The Spaniard returned last month for a second spell as head coach, but has been unable to move Watford off the bottom of the table after collecting one point from his first three games. Flores boasts an impressive CV, which includes winning the Europa League with Atletico Madrid and guiding Valencia to the Champions League.

But when asked by Standard Sport if keeping Watford up would be his greatest achievement, he replied: “Yeah. It is easy to try to fight to go in the Champions League or to try to fight to establish teams in the top 10.

“I am used to that and it is also an easier life for the coach. I am not used to training teams in this situation.”

The Hornets host Sheffield United tomorrow and Flores added: “The good news is that there are many, many matches in front to face.”
