Quique Sanchez Flores and Watford handed major injury blow ahead of Arsenal game

Quique Sanchez Flores could be without defender Craig Cathcart for his first game back in charge of Watford on Sunday.

The Northern Irishman is a major injury doubt for the Hornets, after picking up a muscle problem during the international break.

The Hornets have already lost club captain Troy Deeney to a long term injury, with Cathcart now joining him on the sidelines for the visit of Arsenal.

“We don’t have many injuries,” said Sanchez Flores (via the Watford Observer ).

“We have Deeney and Cathcart, they’re very important players, but when you don’t have them, or you have some players with injuries, you need to accept that as soon as possible, you need to think about the person who is able to play.

“Craig has something in his muscle and I think it’s something that will just keep him out for a short period.”

Watford have endured a difficult start to the season, and are currently sitting bottom of the Premier League table, having picked up just one point from their opening four matches.

The form led to the club replacing manager Javi Gracia with former boss Sanchez Flores, but the Spaniard has warned fans that it may take time for him to get his ideas across.

“It’s difficult, I have to know the players," he said.

“The first week you come here, it’s difficult to identify everything because there’s players who haven’t been playing for a long time and other players who have injuries and other players, they are playing but they don’t have confidence because the results aren’t good.

“You need to take all this and try to improve as soon as possible and we don’t have time.”
