Quinton Jefferson signed 5th-round RFA tender with Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Quinton Jefferson officially signed his original round tender, keeping him in the fold for the 2019 season.

Jefferson, 25, had an original round tender placed on him by the Seahawks back in March. As a restricted free agent, that meant other teams could try to sign him away from Seattle, but they would have needed to give up a fifth-round pick to do so. Although Jefferson was efficient last season, that didn’t seem like a likely scenario.

Jefferson started 12 games for Seattle last season opposite Frank Clark, recording 25 combined tackles, three sacks and two passes defended. He spent the year transitioning from an interior defensive tackle to an outside player, a transition that went well and should make Jefferson even more impactful next season now that he is more comfortable in his new spot.

With the signing, Seattle locked up a key defensive piece heading into the 2019 season.
