Quinn Ewers reportedly enrolling at Ohio State early, will be eligible to play this fall

There were rumors, reports, and it wasn’t all a smokescreen apparently.

Ohio State five-star quarterback commit Quinn Ewers will be enrolling at Ohio State a year early and be eligible to play this season according to a report from Justin Wells of On3.com.

Ewers was the top overall prospect in the class of 2022 and one of the most prized recruits of all time coming out of Southlake Carrol High School in Texas. He is thought to be a generational talent that has the potential to be one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country regardless of what team and what recruiting class he is a part of.

It all boils down to the highly marketable Ewers being able to take advantage of the new name, image, and likeness rules that will provide him with immediate endorsements and financial success even if he doesn’t see the field in 2021.

We’ll have more on this a little later, but we’ll have to see if Ewers will immediately be inserted into an already crowded quarterback competition that features freshmen C.J. Stroud, Jack Miller, and Kyle McCord. Ewers wasn’t planning on enrolling until January at the earliest as an early enrollee to the 2022 class.

Regardless, this is huge news and will most likely set a president for others in Ewers’ position to think about reclassifying and enrolling early because of the financial gains that are now available off the field.
