Quinn Cook says LeBron has looked out for him throughout career

Quinn Cook may not have been the sexiest signing for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, he figures to play a key role alongside LeBron James throughout the season thanks to his strong 3-point shooting.

But Cook has had a relationship with LeBron for sometime, dating back to his days at Duke University and a brief training camp stint with the Cavaliers in 2015.

Cook told Mark Medina of the Mercury News about his relationship with James, which he says has maintained over the years since he was on the Cavs and eventually cut that season.

“Any time over my career, he would make sure I was good, talking to me and giving me advice,” Cook said of James. “To have a guy like that in your corner who I can reach out to any time and gives me advice, it helps me at every stage of my career. It’s something I’ve never taken for granted. I’m looking forward to reuniting with him again.”

James is going to be breaking in basically a completely new team after the Lakers mortgaged their present and future to bring in Anthony Davis from the Pelicans. That he has relationships with Cook as well as others on the team already may help accelerate the learning curve. And that’s something the Lakers will desperately need in what figures to be an even tougher Western Conference.
