Quidditch isn’t playable in Hogwarts Legacy

There’s been plenty of pre-release chatter about Hogwarts Legacy being an authentic wizarding world experience, but that doesn’t mean Quidditch will be playable.

For anyone unfamiliar, Quidditch is a fictional sport within the Harry Potter franchise. It involves two teams flying around on broomsticks chasing around a magical doohickey. Think hockey, only with fewer orbital bone fractures. People even play an approximation in real-life, even.

Many were hoping Quidditch would be a side activity in Hogwarts Legacy, but a recently-released FAQ page states otherwise.

Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy,” Avalanche Software said. “However, broom flight for traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle.”

It’s not all that shocking to anyone keeping up with Hogwarts Legacy‘s pre-paunch promotional media. The massive PS5 features trailer from earlier this summer didn’t mention Quidditch, nor did any teasers before it.

“Broom flight is a method of travel in Hogwarts Legacy and there are also broom races,” Avalanche Software continues. “Players can take a Flying class to master their broomstick flying skills.”

There have been several disappointing announcements involving Hogwarts Legacy lately. First, the game was delayed until next year. Then there was plenty of drama regarding the Collector’s Editon pricing.
