Quickline adds build team to deliver quicker on rural connectivity

Quickline Communications is creating a new infrastructure team as it accelerates its rollout of rural broadband.

A 16-strong ‘build team’ will be responsible for fibre networks that connect hard-to-reach communities. The new roles are the latest jobs to be created at fast-growing Quickline, which recently moved into new offices at Albion Mills in Willerby, to accommodate its expansion, having been heavily invested in following an international buy-out.

From installing track, cabling and splicing to making fibre connections live in local areas, the team will play an integral role in Quickline’s mission to provide “broadband for the better” to communities which have been left behind in the drive to improve access to the internet across the UK.

The new team will be on the ground across North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, as Quickline connects more homes and businesses, supporting the hybrid roll-out that now includes 5G. Having already doubled the workforce to 130 since Northleaf's acquisition, this is part of the stated intention to double again.

Chris Akrill, head of fibre operations at Quickline, said: “Having our own dedicated build team will give us even more capacity and flexibility to roll out our gigabit capable broadband network to even more rural communities.

“We’ve got an ambitious target at Quickline to build our next generation broadband network to over half a million homes and businesses by 2025. To do that, we need an effective and robust team. We’re looking for talented individuals to join us on our exciting journey.”

Once the infrastructure is in place, the projects are handed over to Quickline’s network team to complete connections to homes and businesses.

Jobs available cover civil operatives, cablers and splicers. Supervisor and manager roles are also being sought. All the roles are permanent.
