The staff at a bank in Co Meath have been praised after their quick thinking saved a woman's life yesterday.
The woman collapsed near the AIB Bank on Frederick Street in Ashbourne after suffering from a suspected cardiac arrest.
The staff immediately rang the gardai who rushed to the scene with an AED.
They performed CPR and used the AED to resuscitate the lady who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
A post on Meath Crime Prevention reads: "Well done to the staff of AIB bank, Frederick Street, along with Ashbourne Gardaí after an incident which occurred yesterday afternoon in which the Defibrillator from the Garda Station was used.
"After a lady collapsed near the A.I.B with a suspected cardiac arrest, quick-thinking staff from the bank contacted Ashbourne Garda Station. Gardaí quickly attended the scene with the AED, where they carried out CPR and used the AED to resuscitate the lady. She was then taken by ambulance to hospital.
"We wish this lady a speedy recovery.
"The installation of the AED was a joint venture between Ashbourne Cardiac First Responders and Ashbourne Community Police."
