Quick-thinking pub staff helped catch dreadlocked dealer trying to sell drugs to drinkers

A dreadlocked drug dealer was caught after trying to sell MDMA tablets at a pub in Bridgend.

Tyler Evans, 23, was jailed after being found in possession of the drugs while drinking at the Three Horseshoes pub on January 12.

Quick-thinking staff from the venue contacted the police after they were alerted by two women that a man with dreadlocks was selling drugs.

When door staff confronted Evans he attempted to pass the drugs to a girl he was with but they were intercepted by the staff members.

He was found in possession of 12 and a half green MDMA tablets with a pattern of Medusa's head on them.

Evans, of Bridgend , was arrested by police and his phone was examined. It was found to contain texts in relation to the supply of cannabis and magic mushrooms.

He later pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and of possession with intent to supply a class A drug.

On Monday Evans appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where he was sentenced to two years and one month in prison.

Speaking after the sentencing detective sergeant Julian Kerslake, of South Wales Police , said: "The use and supply of illegal drugs will not be tolerate in our communities and we work together with licensed premises to stamp this out.

"Thanks must go to the staff at the Three Horseshoes pub for their quick actions in relation to this case.

"We will continue to work with licensed premises in the area to ensure Bridgend remains a safe and pleasant place to live and visit."
