Quick-thinking neighbour alerts gardai after man spotted trying to break into North Dublin house

A man has been arrested following an alleged attempted break-in in North Dublin.

Gardai rushed to the scene on Botanic Avenue after a man was spotted trying to get into a house at around 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning.

A quick-thinking neighbour who spotted the man raised the alarm and officers quickly arrived at the scene.

A man, 40s, was taken to Bridewell Garda Station and was later released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating an attempted burglary in Botanic Avenue, Glasnevin, Co. Dublin which occurred at approximately 3:00am on the 8th of October 2019.

"A man, 40s, was arrested and detained at Bridewell Garda Station. He was later released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions."
