A late night walker became an instant hero last night after helping to save a man who got into difficulty in the River Liffey.
The man was rescued from the waters near Victoria Quay shortly after 10pm last night.
A passerby spotted the man in trouble and managed to throw a life buoy into him and helped him get to safety.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but thankfully the man was out of the river by the time they arrived.
He was brought to St. James's Hospital as a precaution following the frightening ordeal.
