Quick thinking bystander brings patient back to life with CPR in Skerries

A heroic bystander brought a patient back to life after performing CPR on them when they were taken ill in north Dublin last night.

The quick-thinking local managed to resuscitate the patient who got into difficulty in Skerries overnight.

Firefighters and advanced paramedics raced to the scene shortly after.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Bystander CPR led to a resuscitation overnight. Skerries firefighters working with Advanced Paramedics from Swords fire station, @SwordsAmbulance & @UCDcems were on scene.

"With #Covid19Ireland in the news it's worth remembering the basics like CPR still work #ROSC."

Incredibly, this was the second time a heroic local saved a life in north Dublin yesterday.

Firefighters and paramedics from Kilbarrack rushed to Portmarnock Beach at around 1pm after a person suffered a cardiac arrest.

While waiting for the emergency services, it is understood that passers-by performed compressions on the person involved until help arrived.

A spokesperson for the Dublin Fire Brigade said: “Firefighter and paramedics from Kilbarrack teamed with @IrishCoastGuard and NAS today to respond to a cardiac arrest on the beach in Portmarnock. There was a successful resuscitation on scene.

“This is why we ask that emergency access to beaches and amenities are maintained at all times.”
