Quick Little Builds: Transit van flat and garage disco gym among renovations on new HGTV show

Lockdowns have led to a boom in home renovations — but not everyone has been sticking to the standard loft extension.

A property show is tracking down the nation’s quirkiest renovations, from a DIY-er who wants to turn a Transit van into an apartment on wheels to the homeowners who built a witches’ cottage as a haven for cats.

Quick Little Builds follows architect Gabrielle Omar, left, as she dispenses advice to help people transform even the tiniest spaces on tight budgets.

With her help, a couple build a dog grooming parlour for £1,600, a beach hut is revamped for £2,000 and a shed is turned into a studio for £3,000.

Emily and Luke from Kent spent £16,000 to turn their garage into a play area for daughter Florence (HGTV - UK.)

From treehouses to beach huts, narrowboats to humble lofts, no space is too small to benefit from her expertise as she helps people turn their dreams into amazing spaces.

During the 10-part series we’ll also see a horse trailer turn into a bathroom, a humdrum garage become a disco gym and a double-decker bus up-scaled to an apartment on wheels. It’s not all get up and go: peaceful retreats, multi-functional rooms and courtyard conversions will benefit from Gabrielle’s advice.

And tablescapers pay attention: the seventh episode will see Gabrielle help Michelle from north London create the ultimate space to cook, unwind and entertain.

Quick Little Builds is on Discovery’s HGTV channel from August 23.
