Mexican cuisine isn't new to Bangkok. It's pretty accessible and there are a number of different restos to choose from so it's not exactly something you have to search for. Bowlito sits comfortably in the middle of the cheap Mexican fast food eats and the expensive ones.

Opened for almost two years now, the concept of Bowlito is to serve up fast and casual Mexican food. They've been opening kiosks at various places and events but they also have a restaurant on the ground floor of Sindhorn Building at Witthayu aka Wireless Road. Plus, they're opening a second branch at Sathorn Square. Their menu, at first glance, seems pretty straightforward. Mexican favourites like the burrito and quesadilla are present, but you can customise it any way you wish. You can have a beef, chicken or tofu burrito and choose your fillings. Some outliers are on the menu, specifically their Onsen egg rice bowls, which is obviously Japanese though the toppings are things like Mexi chicken and Bulgogi pork. Plus, these rice bowls can also be ordered as burritos. So while the general concept is Mexican, there's a bit of playfulness that may seem odd but after trying the dishes, I'm glad to say they do work.
Bowlito's Nachos (B150) topped with guacamole and sour cream is a must-try. Their nachos are thin and light -- not too much but just right. Plus, it has the right proportion of meatiness and cheesiness. The Beef burrito (B199) is jam-packed with goodness: medium-rare chewy beef, sumptuous beans and rice and, last but not the least, delectable veggies. Sinking your teeth into these bad boys is an utter delight. The Chicken quesadilla (B129) stands out from many restos that offer the dish because it's not thin and flat and is instead stuffed with legit, chunky pieces of chicken. I also tried their Pork tacos (B128 for two pieces) but with jaew sauce, which was a collision of Thai and Mexican cuisine at its finest. Finally, don't forget to ask for their three sauces: Green, Hot and Crazy Hot. Oh, and their Lemonade (B49) is pretty dang refreshing.
Bottom line: Bowlito offers quick, easy and affordable Mexican fusion-y dishes that I'll definitely crave for. Here's hoping they open more locations.
