Quick Bengals storylines to watch during preseason finale vs. Colts

The Cincinnati Bengals conclude the preseason with the annual contest against the Indianapolis Colts. Starters won’t get much run, if any. But it is an important time for guys trying to secure roster spots and depending on how that goes, it could influence the entire shape of the roster. These are some quick hits to keep in mind during the game tonight.

QB Push: Ryan Finley is the man behind Andy Dalton, as expected, especially after a quick turnaround thanks to the wisdom of Alex Van Pelt. But can Jake Dolegala — the only other passer besides Finley invited to Paul Brown Stadium for a visit — convince the team to keep three quarterbacks?

WR Upset: Damion Willis already pulled off a surprise and will start for A.J. Green. With Stanley Morgan hurt lately, can undrafted Ventell Bryant make a push and steal a roster spot from Cody Core or Josh Malone? Watch special teams more than Bryant’s obvious connection with Dolegala because they’ve been working together in practice so often.

Trench Warfare: Somebody has to go. Andrew Billings looks good. Ryan Glasgow looks great off knee surgery. But Josh Tupou has even looked improved. One of those guys could prevent rostering high-upside rookie Renell Wren. Something has to give.

LB Questions: Can anyone flash? Is there a point to keeping even five linebackers? Rookie Deshaun Davis might be a practice squad stash if he can’t flash and Malik Jefferson could be on the outs entirely. This fourth game is anything but meaningless.
