Oh no! You've just got up and today is December 1 - but you've forgotten something haven't you?
You've forgotten to pose that pesky elf getting up to mischief to surprise your kids.
But don't worry we've got plenty of ideas to get you started including staging elf races and even having your naughty elf do some home improvement.
For those who are new to the Elf on the Shelf phenomenon, the idea is that the elves are sent by Father Christmas to keep an eye on your children and report back to the North Pole who has been naughty and who has been nice.
Then the elves (with the help of a grown-up) change position much to the delight of the kids in the morning.
