Queues on Edinburgh M8 after crash near Hermiston Gait as police called to scene

Emergency services have been called to the scene of a crash on the M8 in Edinburgh.

Traffic Scotland reported news of the incident, which happened on approach to Hermiston Gait and the City Bypass, at around 7.40am.

They say police and trunk road support teams are currently on their way to the scene to provide assistance. Lane three of three was blocked on the eastbound approach. Queues are starting to build in the area as a result.

Traffic Scotland said: "M8 RTC. Lane three of three blocked E/B on approach to the A720 at Hermiston Gait due to an RTC. Police en route. Traffic is building in the area."

They confirmed at around 8am that the lane had reopened although traffic remained heavy in the area.

Police Scotland have been contacted for more information and we'll bring you the latest on this as we get it.
