Queues built up outside Nottingham city supermarket after pubs closed

Dozens of people queued for a late night fix from a city supermarket after pubs and bars closed at 10pm.

A video posted on Twitter showed people queuing for Sainsbury's Local, off Carlton Street, on Saturday evening (September 26).

The line stretched back to the Six Barrel Drafthouse, in Hockley.

The queue outside Sainsbury's built fairly quickly but didn't last long and supermarket security staff were involved.

It happened on the first weekend since the new coronavirus restrictions came into effect, during which police had to tell a city takeway to shut and a teacher was seen lying on the tram tracks.

Meanwhile, owners of a city takeaway explained how the new 10pm curfew had made it even harder to make money.
