Queueing traffic on A52 in Radcliffe on Trent as roadworks cause delays

Roadworks are causing huge delays on a busy route in and out of Nottingham. Temporary traffic light on the A52 through Radcliffe on Trent have resulted in long queues of traffic through the area.

The road is down to one lane on the stretch into Radcliffe on Trent. Roadworks have been in place for a couple of days due to a fault on the underground electricity cable.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix is reporting queueing traffic on A52 Grantham Road in both directions near Bingham Road on Wednesday, May 3, afternoon.

A spokesperson for National Grid explained the road had to be excavated in order to repair a fault on the underground electricity cable.

National Grid said the repairs have been completed on Wednesday and they have requested that contractors attend and carry out the reinstatement as quickly as possible. They say they hope to have the road opened by the end of Thursday, May 4.

The spokesperson added: "Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused."
