Questions over pardoning of bunga bunga showgirl who is ally of Berlusconi

  • Italian President Sergio Mattarella ordered an urgent review of the pardon granted to Nicole Minetti, who was convicted in the "bunga bunga" sex party scandal.
  • Minetti, a former dental hygienist and showgirl, received a pardon in February for convictions related to procuring sex workers for Silvio Berlusconi's parties and misuse of public funds.
  • The pardon was reportedly based on claims of her adopted child's poor health, which she stated prevented her from performing community service.
  • Il Fatto Quotidiano newspaper reported alleged inconsistencies regarding the child's adoption and health, prompting the Milan prosecutor general's office to launch an investigation through Interpol.
  • Ms Minetti denies falsifying her application, but the case has led to calls for the resignation of Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, who recommended clemency.
