Question Time was going to be in Bolton tonight - it's been moved to London because of Brexit

Question Time has been pulled from Bolton after BBC bosses decided to relocate tonight's show to London 'due to Brexit'.

The flagship political programme was set to be broadcast live from the Albert Halls in Bolton town centre, but the 'unfolding' Brexit developments led to a decision to host the show down south.

The BBC said it wanted to make sure its panellists could attend, and are instead broadcasting from a venue in Dulwich.

A BBC spokesperson said: "This week’s Question Time will now be broadcast from London to allow attendance from panellists who might otherwise not be able to travel to the North West due to unfolding Brexit developments and commitments in Westminster.

"We are working with the venue in Bolton to find another suitable date and look forward to broadcasting there in due course.”

Fiona Bruce, host of BBC Question Time, in a video post on Twitter on Tuesday, urged people to apply to be audience members.

"I just wanted to let you know we're not coming from Bolton this week for Question Time," said the presenter.

"The reason being, I'm sure I don't need to tell you, all sorts of things are happening in the House of Commons this week.

"So to make sure we have some important players coming on the programme, we have had to move our programme down to London so we will be in Dulwich on Thursday night."

The panellists due to appear Conservative culture secretary Jeremy Wright, Labour MP for Tottenham David Lammy, Mairead McGuinness Vice President of the European Parliament, Ash Sarkar the senior editor of Novara Media and Charles Moore, a columnist for The Telegraph and The Spectator newspapers.

Question Time airs at 10.35pm on BBC One tonight (Thursday).
