Tinopolis, the production group behind Question Time and Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, doubled pre-tax profits to £14m in the year to the end of September.
Tinopolis, which also owns Sunset + Vine, the sports producer with the £100m contract for BT Sport’s coverage including Premier League and Champions League football, reported a 43% surge in revenues to £145m.
The company, which has held sale talks with suitors including Peppa Pig co-owner Entertainment One, paid out £1.82m in fees to its directors.
Staff wages and pensions came to £24.2m, up on the £21.6m in 2013, due to an increase in headcount from 488 to 550.
The Cardiff headquartered firm, which is backed by private equity house Vitruvian Partners, has made acquisitions including £23m for BFGW maker Firecracker Films, Top Chef producer Magic Elves in the US.
