Question of Sport Live coming to Newcastle with host Sue Barker and guest star Steve Cram

A live version of Question of Sport is coming Newcastle later this year, with North East sporting heroes Steve Cram and Steve Harmison among the guest stars.

The show, arriving at the O2 City Hall on Wednesday, November 24, will be fronted by long-serving host Sue Barker, who has recently been replaced by Paddy McGuinness as presenter of the BBC TV series.

She will be joined by friends and Question of Sport co-stars Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson, who will captain teams of stars from a range of different sports.

Famous middle distance runner Cram and Durham’s Ashes-winning bowler Harmison will join Olympic gold medal winning triathlete Georgia Taylor-Brown and Welsh striker turned manager John Hartson on the teams.

Steve Cram CBE is one of the UK’s most famous ever athletes. In a career spanning more than three decades, his many achievements include six gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, European and World Championships and Olympic silver in 1984.

In 1985 Steve broke world records in the 1500m, 2000m and mile – all within 19 days. Since retiring Steve has become a respected commentator and the BBC’s voice of athletics.

Ashington-born Steve Harmison MBE was a truly fearsome fast bowler who represented England in 63 Tests, 58 one day internationals. At his peak, the Durham and Yorkshire player, was described as one of the world's strongest fast bowlers.

During the 2005 Ashes series he played a vital role in England's victory which saw him named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year.

Tickets for Question of Sport in Newcastle will be available online from Ticketmaster.

The Question of Sport live shows – which follow the popular TV format, and feature many of the rounds and challenges fans know and love – will be a fun-packed and joyous lap of honour for Sue, Matt and Phil who all left the BBC TV show earlier this year.

They are going all over the UK, kicking off in Manchester on September 8.

Ben Hatton, Director of Theatre Touring for Cuffe and Taylor, said: “This tour has been two years in the planning so we cannot wait for these unmissable shows to happen.

"We are delighted to be able to announce a host of local sporting favourites – including world champions and Olympians – will be joining Sue, Matt and Phil for the Newcastle date. It will add a real local flavour to the show.
