He may have police unions gunning for him, but Quentin Tarantino will also be experiencing attention of a more appreciative nature, as it was announced at the AFM that a documentary about him and his work is in production.

Directed by Tara Wood, 21 Years: Quentin Tarantino appears to be a companion piece to 21 Years: Richard Linklater, which was co-directed by Wood and film critic Michael Dunaway. Both films, according to Variety, “draw upon the idea that the first 21 years of work defines the career of an artist”.

In a statement, Wood said: “Quentin is the most revolutionary, distinctive director of our time. There is no shortage of stories from his collaborators about what it takes to get his visionary style to the screen.”

According to producers, many of Tarantino’s collaborators have agreed to be interviewed for the film, including Samuel L Jackson, John Travolta, Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jamie Foxx.

Tarantino’s ninth feature film, The Hateful Eight, is due for release on 25 December in the US, 8 January in the UK, and 14 January in Australia.
