Quella x Ted Baker Greengill: bike review

Get cracking: the Quella is put together in a converted chicken shed.
Get cracking: the Quella is put together in a converted chicken shed.

Quella was started by two friends in an old chicken shed near Cambridge in 2012. With an emphasis on craftsmanship and design, their single-speed bikes soon became a hipster staple, popping up everywhere from Hoxton to Tokyo. They’re still in that chicken shed, but now they’ve diversified – adding fanciful things like gears to their expanded range – and have set up a partnership with Ted Baker. There is a long history of designers getting into bed with bike builders, but rarely is the result as eye-catching as this collection. Available in three colours, each steel frame is fitted with top-end Campag gears, traditional centre-pull brakes and a Brooks leather saddle. And they’re all finished with copper-plated forks and lugs. Expensive, yes. Desirable, definitely… (quellabicycle.com)
