Queer guide to Halloween 2021 in Liverpool

Dust off your brooms, carve your pumpkins and don your vampire fangs because Halloween is finally here.

This Halloween, a variety of LGBT+ events are making their way to Liverpool, guaranteed to appease your appetite for all things spooky.

Whether you're a fan of campy thrills, chilling horror, or you're just looking for a good old-fashioned night out, there's something on for you this witching weekend.

We've compiled a list of some of the queer-friendly theatre, nightlife and social events for you to indulge in this spooky season.

Sonic Yootha Scalloween 5

Sonic Yootha and 24 Kitchen Street present Scalloween 5 (Sonic Yootha)

The Baltic Triangle's 24 Kitchen Street hosts Sonic Yootha, Liverpool's staple queer club night for "homos, heteros, drag shows and don’t knows".

Scalloween 5 promises to be a night of new wave, old rave, disco, electric, rock, pop and soul, with a fresh spooky theme for Halloween fans.

Filla Crack's Halloween Drag Cabaret

Downstairs at The Everyman presents Filla Crack's Halloween Drag Cabaret (Filla Crack)

Liverpool's first lady Miss Filla Crack brings an evening of off-the-scale entertainment to The Everyman Theatre.

This special Halloween cabaret show features fiercely frightening performances from some of the finest drag talent in the land including Nana Funk, Baba Yagga, Natasha Von Spirit and Pretentious Dross.

Get the group together and book a table ASAP because it's always a sell out when Miss Crack announces her return.

Final Baby Girl

Peter Groom stars in Dietrich: Live in Liverpool (Veronika Marx)

In association with Homotopia, punk-horror drag superstar Baby Lame brings an evening of midnight movie madness to Liverpool.

Final Baby Girl tells the story of Baby Lame chasing her dream to become the hardcore axe-wielding 'final girl' in her very own slasher movie, akin to Jamie Lee-Curtis in Halloween or Courtney Cox in Scream.

The bearded drag supermonster is doing everything in her power on the path to stardom, but there's just one problem... Baby hasn't found anybody to kill her.

Get ready for 'trash-tastic' songs, interactive comedy and 'gut-churning' film clips as Baby Lame slices and dices her way to horror movie fame.

Warning: Final Baby Girl includes flashing lights, loud music and depictions of violence, death and murder.

Shenanigans presents The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Quirky and kitsch Irish pub Shenanigans presents a screening of Richard O'Brien's cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The bar on Tithebarn Street promises a drink on arrival for everybody in costume.

Tickets include a goody bag with props, as per true Rocky Horror tradition.

Dietrich: Live in Liverpool

Peter Groom stars in Dietrich: Live in Liverpool (Veronika Marx)

In association with Homotopia, International drag and cabaret sensation Peter Groom brings the essence of Marlene Dietrich to Liverpool's St George's Hall this Halloween night.

St George's Hall pays tribute to the late queer German icon, drawing inspiration from some of Marlene's most famous Hollywood numbers including "Lili Marlene", "Lola" and "Falling in Love Again".

Peter Groom also reimagines classics from the Great American Songbook in the style of Ms Dietrich, serving opulence for a night of unforgettable glamour.

The Gay UK rated the show five stars and said: "Groom is mesmerising and will take your breath away."

TOLD: The MacKenzie Files

The Everyman Theatre and local theatre collective The Coach House present a new series of online horror stories based on local urban legends and myths that will have you hiding behind your sofa.

TOLD: The MacKenzie Files follows the story of Jen, a descendent of infamous contractor William MacKenzie, who returns to Liverpool following a mysterious message from her uncle, a scouse paranormal investigator.

Expect spine-chilling stories as Liverpool locals share tales from the dark side of Merseyside.

This series can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, available to stream online at the Everyman Theatre website.

Pride Quarter

Liverpool's Pride Quarter, encompassing Stanley Street, Cumberland Street and Victoria Street, is a bustling hub of culture for Merseyside's LGBT+ community.

A number of clubs and bars in the Pride Quarter are hosting Halloween nights and costume parties for all those looking for a campy night out on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31.
