Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness returns to Gay of Thrones for season eight of GOT recap show

Game of Thrones is not the only iconic show nearing its end – Gay of Thrones, the Emmy-nominated recap series hosted by Jonathan Van Ness, will return too for its final season.

The Queer Eye star confirmed on Wednesday that he will reprise his hosting gig for Gay of Thrones's final season, which will premiere on 16 April.

Game of Thrones' eighth and final season will begin two days prior, on 14 April.

Gay of Thrones began in 2013 and received two Emmy nominations: one in 2016 and one in 2018, both in the Outstanding Short Form Variety Series category.

The show, which is broadcast online on Funny or Die, continued as Van Ness's career and notoriety skyrocketed with Queer Eye.

In each episode, Van Ness welcomes a guest and recaps the latest events on Game of Thrones with them while styling their hair. Clips from Game of Thrones also play throughout the segment.

“I am very excited to blow out this last season of Gay of Thrones with the panache and fierceness that only Jonathan can bring to the screen,” Funny or Die writer and producer Erin Gibson told Entertainment Weekly in a statement.

Gibson drew inspiration for Gay of Thrones from her own conversations with Van Ness, after the two got into the habit of discussing the series while he was styling her hair.
