Queer Eye: Netflix series heading to Japan for special episodes

The Fab Five are heading to Japan.

Netflix has announced that the Queer Eye team are flying to Asia to “work with local tastemakers to make-better a new group of heroes” while sampling the local culture.

The episodes, titled Queer Eye: We’re in Japan!, will be available on the streaming service following the third season.

The creator of Queer Eye, David Collins, said: “In just a year since we launched season one, Queer Eye has become a global phenomenon once again and the Fab Five are truly the ambassadors of self-care and compassion that the world needs now more than ever.

“Filming in Japan is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with four deserving heroes that will help showcase the incredible traditions and customs of their country.”

Netflix’s Queer Eye – a reboot of Queer Eye For The Straight Guy – sees five men, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, and Jonathan Van Ness, makeover someone. The first two seasons were an international sensation.

The Independent‘s Tom Rasmussen wrote of season 2: “In a world where both things have become huge sites of conflict, Queer Eye is urgency disguised as frippery, as acceptance Trojan Horsing as entertainment, and it’s absolutely gay and glorious.”
