Queenslanders who visited COVID exposure sites in Sydney ordered to quarantine

Jeannette Young says it's important that anyone who visited the sites isolates themselves and gets tested. (ABC News: Christopher Gillette)

Queenslanders who were at any of the Sydney sites visited by a man who later tested positive to COVID-19 have been told to quarantine themselves immediately.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she expected more cases to be confirmed after a man in his 50s tested positive.

The state has released a list of exposure sites in Sydney, dating back to April 30.

Anyone in Queensland who has been to any of the locations during the risk period is being asked to quarantine at their home or accommodation and get a COVID-19 test as soon as possible on Thursday morning.

"NSW Health has already made it clear that anyone who has been to any of those venues, should be quarantining, and not getting on flights," Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said.

"We're working closely with NSW to get a better understanding of the risk associated with this case, so as an interim measure, we're mirroring NSW Health's advice.

"We'll continue to assess the situation as more information comes to hand over the next 24 hours."

Everyone is encouraged to monitor the Queensland Health interstate exposure venue lists for 14 days after they arrive to ensure no new venues have been added.

Queensland's COVID-19 total remains at 1,568, with no new cases in the past 24 hours.
