A Queensland police officer will face court next month accused of misconduct in relation to public office after allegedly helping his daughter illegally cross the NSW border at the Gold Coast.

The Brisbane-based 55-year-old senior constable has been issued with a summons to face court on October 18.

In a statement, the Queensland Police Service confirmed the officer from the Road Policing and Regional Support Command has been suspended from duty over an incident on the border on September 15.

The officer's 20-year-old daughter allegedly did not have a valid border pass.

She was issued with a $4,135 fine and ordered into hotel quarantine.

Police sources have told the ABC the mobile phones of the officer and his daughter had been seized and CCTV footage was examined as part of the investigation.

The sources said the officer was not acting in official capacity when he re-entered Queensland.
