Queensland police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for sexually assaulting a woman in North Lakes, north of Brisbane, on Saturday.

Police allege the woman was out walking in Aurora Park just before 6:00pm when she was approached by the man and dragged to a toilet block where she was then sexually assaulted.

Detective Senior Constable Kim Rasker urged any members of the public who were around the park or may have dash cam or CCTV footage, to come forward to help them find the man.

"She was knocked unconscious as a result of [the sexual assault] and that male person has fled the scene," she said.

"We have had members of the public come forward overnight as a result of the release of the male person's image — we have had further reports as well, which are being followed up and investigated."

Police said the man was not known to the woman.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 170cm tall and of thin build.

"The alleged offender was wearing a blue T-shirt, shorts, and some thongs on," she said.

"He has a distinct tattoo on his upper left arm — that being an American Eagle.

"He also has some spacer-style earrings in both ears."

Anyone with information that could identify the man is encouraged to contact police.
