Queensland man charged with strangulation, kidnapping after alleged high-speed chase

A 46-year-old Rockhampton man has been charged with a range of domestic violence offences including strangulation and kidnapping.

A man has been charged with a range of domestic violence offences, including strangulation and kidnapping, over an alleged incident in Rockhampton today.

Emergency services attended a Frenchville address at about 2:00am following reports a woman had been attacked.

Police allege Dallas Horrigan, 46, was seen driving dangerously on Emu Park Road shortly afterwards.

They said a brief pursuit was called off when it reached high speeds.

Horrigan then allegedly threatened security staff at the Rockhampton Hospital.

Along with charges of strangulation, common assault and kidnapping, the Rockhampton man was also charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, entering a dwelling with intent, dangerous operation of a vehicle and evading police.

The matter was mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today but was adjourned until October.

The defendant was remanded in custody.
