Queensferry Road: Edinburgh man rushed to hospital after being struck down by car

Emergency services had raced to an Edinburgh street on Thursday evening (June 3) after a pedestrian was struck down by a car.

Police were called to the incident on Parkgrove Street at Queensferry Road after receiving reports of a 'road crash' at around 5.25pm.

Large traffic delays had occurred in the area and on Queensferry Road as officers blocked off part of the road, with all main transport providers taking diversions for over two hours.

Officers in Edinburgh later confirmed that the crash had involved a male pedestrian had been struck by a car, and was quickly rushed to the Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His condition is currently unknown.

Lothian Buses have also confirmed that their services are now operating as normal on Queensferry Road, with services such as the 21, 41 and 43 no longer diverting from the area.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said:

"Around 5.25pm on Thursday, 3 June, police were called to a report of a male pedestrian struck by a car on Parkgrove Street at Queensferry Road.Emergency services attended and the man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

"Parkgrove Street is closed with diversions in place. Enquiries are continuing."
