Fallen debris is causing traffic chaos on the Queensferry Crossing this morning.
Traffic Scotland claimed some drivers ignored the red X warning sign as their officers tried to clear the carriageway.
Vehicles are backed up to Junction 3 of the M80 as traffic congestion eases across the bridge.
A spokesman said the debris had now been cleared but the tailbacks would take some time to clear.
Emergency services are also dealing with a second incident on the southbound carriageway of the M90.
Two vehicles collided between Junction 1B and 1C, blocking the road.
Traffic Scotland confirmed congestion is heavy on approach and that recovery vehicles were attending to clear the route.
