Queensferry Crossing crash between car and lorry causes rush hour delays

Traffic has come to a standstill on the Queensferry Crossing following a crash between a car and a lorry.

Emergency services raced to the bridge between Edinburgh and Fife at 2.55pm today. Pictures from the incident show a smashed car sitting sideways on the crossing in front of a white lorry.

It is currently unknown if there are any injuries. Commuters have been warned to expect delays of up to 30 minutes as police emergency services assist with the ongoing incident.

The Southbound carriageway remains closed.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "At 2.55pm on Tuesday, September 27, police were called to the Queensferry Crossing, following a report of a two-vehicle crash. Emergency services remain at the scene.”

There will be delays of up to 30 minutes (Traffic Scotland)

A spokesperson for Traffic Scotland said: " "The Southbound carriageway lane 2 (of 2) is currently restricted due to a collision.

"Police and TRISS are in attendance. Traffic is really heavy on approach. Current delays approx. 30 minutes."
