Queens Park Rangers hero Bobby Zamora names who would be 'a good fit' to replace Steve McClaren

Queens Park Rangers are on the search for a new manager after sacking Steve McClaren earlier this week.

The former England manager was sacked after 11 months in the job, following a run of just one win in the league since Boxing Day.

And former QPR striker Bobby Zamora has given his opinion on who could replace McClaren in the hotseat at Loftus Road.

The 38-year-old, who scored the winning goal in the Championship play-off final for the Rs in 2014 against Derby County, has suggested one of his former managers, Alan Pardew.

"I like Steve. I think he’s an unbelievable coach," Zamora said, speaking exclusively to 888sport.

" He has been working with what’s there and could possibly have done with a few more funds. Unfortunately QPR have spent so much money in the past they’re now having to tighten the reins.

Steve McClaren's first words since being sacked as manager of QPR

"It is very hard to do this job with young players and though there is some quality there I just think they needed more. Where they go from here I don’t know because Steve is fantastic and I respect him massively.

"Possibly it might be Alan Pardew. He has been out of the game for a little while and no doubt he’s chomping at the bit. He’s a character and he’s a good fit for the owners and club. So yes he’s an option."

Pardew, who worked with Zamora at West Ham, has managed several clubs at Premier League, Championship and League One level, and his last job in management was at West Bromwich Albion.

However, the former Newcastle United, Southampton and Crystal Palace manager was sacked in April 2018 by the Baggies after just four months, in the job, with the club bottom of the Premier League.
