Queens of Aintree Coleen Rooney and Christine McGuinness 'gutted' to miss Grand National

Both Coleen Rooney and Christine McGuinness have missed this year's Grand National.

The two women unfailingly attend Aintree every year either for Ladies Day or the final Grand National day.

For over a decade, Coleen has become a staple at the races, often visiting for all three days in a host of stunning outfits.

The 'Queen of Aintree ' never fails to impress when she arrives at the world famous festival - stepping out in an array of carefully put-together looks.

On Ladies Day in 2007 she pushed the boundaries with a smart Alexandra McQueen fitted trouser suit with a 70s style floppy hat.

And in 2018, Coleen took son Kai to the races,  as she wore a classic black dress and heels.

Both Paddy and Christine McGuinness are also regulars at Aintree - with Christine saying it's the pair's annual couples day out.

Last year, the married couple were spotted cheering on the horses in Liverpool and basking in the spring sunshine with friends.

And the pair were expected to attend this year's Grand National day, however neither arrived.

Following yesterday's no-show, Coleen posted on Twitter saying she was 'gutted to be missing it', later adding 'wish I was there'.

Earlier this week, she celebrated her 33rd birthday by having a romantic meal with husband Wayne.

So, it would appear that Coleen was unable to make the long-haul trip back from Washington DC to Liverpool.

Christine's other-half Paddy had revealed on Instagram earlier today that he was going to visit Aintree, but would miss the first race.

Fans eagerly anticipated their arrival, however Christine later informed her followers that she was ill.

In a statement she said: "Devoed I'm missing Aintree for the first time in years. I'm looking at everyone's photos so gutted I'm not there.

"It's our annual date and the weather is fab #Gutted #FML #FOMO."
