Queen wore Princess Beatrice's wedding dress to movie premiere 60 years ago

The Queen wore Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress to a film premiere in London almost 60 years ago.

The gown was worn by the Queen on a number of occasions including that of the Lawrence of Arabia film premiere at the Odeon in Leicster Square on December 10, 1962.

She also wore the dress to the State Opening in 1966.

The wedding of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at All Saints Church on the Windsor estate on Friday morning.

The ivory dress was designed by Sir Norman Hartnell who was also behind the Queen's wedding dress and the outfit for her Coronation in 1953.

Made from Peau De Soie taffeta, it includes organza sleeves - which were added for the wedding - geometric bodice and diamanté adornments.

It was remodelled and fitted by Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin for Princess Beatrice's wedding day.

Our sister paper The Mirror reports that she also wore a tiara which was worn by the Queen on her wedding day to Philip in 1947.

The Queen Mary fringe tiara was styled out of a diamond necklace gifted to Queen Elizabeth II's grandmother by Queen Victoria in 1919.

The tiara echoes a Russian headdress and boasts 739 brilliants and 149 baton diamonds.

Princess Anne, the Queen's daughter, also wore the tiara on her wedding to Mark Phillips in 1973.

The Queen’s treasured items are usually loaned out in line with the pecking order of the royal family.
