Queen will not shoulder Prince Andrew's debt on £16 million ski chalet

A spokesperson for Prince Andrew has confirmed that the Queen will not shoulder his reported £6.7 million debt, over an alleged outstanding payment for his and Sarah Ferguson’s Swiss ski chalet.

French socialite Isabelle Bourlon de Rouvre previously filed a debt claim alleging Prince Andrew had not paid her, despite Sarah Ferguson reportedly claiming via WhatsApp that the money was incoming.

The seven bedroom property is called Chalet Helora and is worth £16.6 million, featuring an indoor swimming pool and sauna.

According to The Times, Prince Andrew and his family initially rented the Verbier chalet during the holidays before eventually deciding to purchase it in 2014 - though he was meant to have paid de Rouvre a final payment of £6.7 million by New Year’s this year.

A spokesperson for Prince Andrew claimed the property was now on the market to settle the payments. They said, “The Queen will not be stepping in to settle the debt owed on the Swiss chalet.”

“The chalet is currently on the market and it is expected that its sale will enable all outstanding debts to be met,” they continued.

Another recent Times report also claimed there are “no plans to review” Prince Andrew’s withdrawal from royal life, following the fallout over his connection to sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his car crash Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis. Royal sources speaking to the Times claimed he was a “busted flush” and “toxic.”

Prince Andrew is believed to be isolating at his home Royal Lodge in Windsor, alongside his former wife Sarah Ferguson, Princess Eugenie and his son-in-law Jack Brooksbank
