The Queen has been officially welcomed to Balmoral Castle for her first summer holiday at her Scottish estate following the death of her husband Prince Philip in April.

The ceremony, which went ahead for the first time since 2019, celebrated the monarch’s stay officially after she arrived at her residence on July 23.

She was greeted by a Guard of Honour formed of the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The queen also crossed paths with The Royal Regiment of Scotland’s Mascot, Shetland Pony Lance Corporal Cruachan IV.

The monarch dressed for the special occasion in a fuchsia pink coat and matching hat which she wore with a floral dress and pearls.

Her Majesty will remain at her Aberdeenshire estate until early October.

It is expected the monarch will welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex and Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall during her stay in Scotland.

Last year’s official welcoming ceremony didn’t take place because of the Covid pandemic.
