Busy Queen visits Heathrow Airport for fourth engagement in four days

The Queen arrived at Heathrow Airport today to mark the 100th anniversary of British Airways.

Her Majesty wore a light sky-blue coat with a matching hat as she met cheering crowds at the country's busiest airport.

Staff dressed in uniforms as they lined up to greet the monarch at the company's headquarters in west London.

She will also meet staff who volunteer with the company's Flying Start community investment programme, which works with Comic Relief to help children and young people secure better chances in life.

British Airways turns 100 on Sunday, August 25.

This is the fourth outing during a busy week for the Queen following a visit to Sainsbury's yesterday.

On Monday, she joined other royals for a trip to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show where she inspected a garden co-designed by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Yesterday she arrived at the supermarket's pop-up branch in Covent Garden, London which shows what the stores looked like when they first opened 150 years ago.

But as well at the vintage shop - which sold just butter, milk and eggs - she also got to see how things work today.

She was given a demonstration of the self-service tills and had a rather cheeky question for her host.

When manager Damien Corcoran showed her how they worked, she asked about people "cheating" on the machines.

With a big smile on her face, she said: "And you can't trick it? You can't cheat?"

Damien replied: "Well, you always can cheat but with the weighing scales we've got that should prevent certain items from going through the till undetected."

The Queen was with the Duke of Edinburgh when she last visited Heathrow, to officially open Terminal 2 in June 2014.

The royal couple also visited Heathrow in March 2008, to open Terminal 5, while the Prince of Wales opened the British Airways headquarters in July 1998.
