The Queen isn't as close to the Duchess of Cambridge as it might appear, a royal expert has claimed.
The monarch is often seen with her grandson Prince William and his wife Kate at official events, and they are always together at big family occasions including weddings, religious holidays and the Queen's birthday .
However Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, believes that a lack of common interests away from official royal duties may mean they don't have much to talk about in private.
She told Sun Online : "The Queen admires Kate tremendously but does not have an intimate relationship with her as they don’t have much in common.

"I think the Queen and Kate have a more serious relationship as obviously Kate holds all the Queen’s hope for the future and she would not want to do anything to upset that."
The one thing they do have in common is children, but Ingrid doesn't think the monarch would speak about the kids often.
But when it comes to Meghan Markle , Ingrid believes the American actress knows exactly how to make the Queen laugh.

They probably have more in common, as they both love animals especially dogs.
She says: "With Meghan she would tread very carefully and do her best to make her feel at home."
Ingrid also says that Meghan knows how to make the Queen laugh, and we saw proof of this during their official visit to Chester where the two royal women were seen chatting and giggling away.
Both royal women have accompanied the head of the Firm on visits over the years, she always looks very happy in their company.
The last time all three were together in public was Trooping the Colour, where Meghan and Kate joined the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony to wave to well-wishers who came out in force to celebrate her birthday.
Kate will often sit or stand closer to the Queen at official events, but this is purely because of levels of seniority as William is higher up the line of succession than his brother Harry.
