Queen Street station platforms closed for one month as revamp continues

The next stage of Queen Street station's massive redevelopment will kick off tomorrow.

This means from Monday (September 16) platforms four and five at the busy facility will be closed for one month, to allow for an extension of the tracks for longer electric trains.

of the ongoing £120 million project to expand Scotland’s third-busiest station and as a result, Network Rail will be able to operate eight-carriage Class 385 Express trains in the future.

the closure, engineers will lay new track, extend overhead power lines, rebuild platform walls and resurface the area.

Most services will be unaffected but there are alterations on these routes:

• Glasgow Queen Street – Anniesland

• Glasgow Queen Street – Edinburgh (via Cumbernauld & Falkirk Grahamston).

• Glasgow Queen Street – Aberdeen/Inverness

The platforms will reopen again on Monday, October 14.
