Queen still hunting for security expert - as role's salary is bumped up by £5,000

The Queen is still searching of a new security expert - and has bumped the role's salary by £5,000 a year.

Just three months ago the job was advertised as a one year contract with a salary of £25,000 for 37-and-a-half-hours a week.

The salary raised the eyebrows of Daily Mirror columnist Liam Gilliver, who stated that it showed how "out of touch" the Royal Family is.

Now the pay has been increased by 20% to £30,000 a year - with a source stating: "It is quite a hike in salary."

The successful applicant will be working five days a week, Monday to Friday, and tasked with managing security clearances and vetting for staff working at Buckingham Palace and other royal residences.

They will also "help the wider team at events and with a range of projects" as well as making "important decisions every day" and making sure to "always deliver with faultless accuracy".

The job advert reads: "Joining the Personnel Security team, you'll provide best practice Personnel Security advice, process National Security clearances and be responsible for the ongoing management of clearance for everyone living and working in the occupied Royal residences

"Managing your own portfolio of work, you'll act as a key contact for all cases handled, taking necessary actions and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with Government security standards and internal policies.

"You'll work with people from right across the Royal Households and will regularly liaise with external organisations in the provision of security vetting."

The job advert explains how, the lucky applicant will work to support the diverse needs of the organisation, contributing to important decisions each day.

They should have a keen eye for detail, be a natural communicator, and be used to working in a fast-paced environment.

The job also boasts of the opportunity for the applicant to broaden their skills whilst supporting events and a range of other projects.

It also welcomes flexibility, stating: "Most roles have the option to work flexibly/remotely whenever possible and we're happy to discuss part-time and job share options at any stage of the application process."

Discussing requirements for applicants, it continues: "With some experience in a security vetting capacity or a regulatory environment, you'll already be used to handling sensitive data.

"As a capable and organised individual with lots of initiative, you'll juggle a varied workload and process large volumes of information to meet tight deadlines."

Any hopeful candidates are encouraged to apply promptly as the deadline for application is this Sunday.
