Boris Johnson has pledged that his new Government “will work flat out” to deliver “a new golden age” for the United Kingdom.
Speaking as MPs started to debate the Queen’s Speech, Mr Johnson said: “I do not think it vainglorious or implausible to say that a new golden age for this United Kingdom is in reach… we will work flat out to deliver it.”
It comes after the Queen addressed Parliament earlier on Tuesday as the Prime Minister unveiled what he called “the most radical Queen’s Speech for a generation”.
The State Opening of Parliament took place one week after the Tories secured a landslide victory in the general election.
