The Queen is a complete pro when it comes to meet and greets, having spent all of her adult life chatting with new people.
As well as being an expert in small talk, she has a few little tricks which allow her to communicate with her staff when she's mid-coversation.
She uses her wedding ring and her handbag to give different signals, including when she's done talking to somebody and wants an excuse to leave.
A shift of the bag from one hand to another is an indication she is ready to move on from whoever she is speaking to.
If she wants to leave an event all together, the places her handbag on a table.
If she can't use her bag, the Queen uses her wedding ring to send messages to royal officials.
She gives it a discreet twist if she she would like to end a conversation quickly, and a more dramatic spin of the ring means she is particularly keen to leave.
Once they've seen the signal, staff will then pop over and interrupt, saying the Queen is needed for something else.
Royal historian Hugo Vickers told People: "It would be very worrying if you were talking to the Queen and saw the handbag move from one hand to the other.
"Luckily, they’d let you down easy.'
"It would be done very nicely. Someone would come along and say, "Sir, the Archbishop of Canterbury would very much like to meet you'."
But it's not just when she's out and about that the Queen has tricks up her sleeve.
While at Buckingham Palace the Queen is said to have a hidden buzzer which she rings when she wants staff to open the doors and escort the person she is speaking to out.
It it is not just Her Royal Highness that employs subtle strategies to spare them getting stuck too long talking to the same person.
Prince Philip is known to employ a sweeping motion when meeting people in a lineup to avoid getting embroiled in a lengthy chat.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge often carries a clutch bag in front of her - and is suggested to use it to avoid having to shake hands at awkward moments.
