Queen's secret name that is used during hotel stays to stop people recognising her

The Queen has a secret name that is used whenever the monarch checks in to hotels around the world.

Wherever she goes, the Queen requires a huge security detail, protection and privacy.

This has led to an entire team being dedicated to making sure Elizabeth II is safe at all times, MyLondon reported .

These measures have led to a series of measures put in place which help the team communicate and share information in a clandestine way.

All of this ensures the Queen’s movements, location and actions are encrypted and kept secret.

However, despite this, a few years back one of the Queen’s protection officers revealed the name the team used for the sovereign.

The Queen is reportedly referred to as ‘S’ or ‘Sharon’ by her security detail because it acts as a stand-in for Sovereign.

It’s a name she would use to remain incognito and anonymous but also help keep her safe.

The name was revealed whilst security officers did some reconnaissance before a royal tour with one office telling The sun what it meant.

This was more or less confirmed by Royal historian Hugo Vickers who told the paper: “It is highly likely. The purpose of any sobriquet is that it should be anonymous and memorable.

“If it can also be a bit mischievous and therefore all the more memorable, then that makes sense. Although S might simply stand for Sovereign of course.”

‘S’ or ‘Sharon’ is just one of a number of names that the Queen has been known by over the years.

She was known as Lillibet as a child when she struggled to say her own name, and Prince George calls her ‘gan-gan’ whilst Prince William reportedly called her ‘Gary’ as a child himself.
