Queen's Sandringham estate to host drive in movie nights

While many of the Queen’s royal residences are currently closed to the public, her beloved home Sandringham is throwing its doors open for an unusual reason: drive-in movie nights.

Later this month, film fans and curious royalists will be able to head into the Queen’s Norfolk residence to watch films from Moana to Bohemian Rhapsody on the property’s grounds.

Running from September 25-27, the screenings will kick off with the Oscar-winning war epic 1917 and include other films such as Rocketman, Toy Story, The Greatest Showman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Moana, Grease and A Star Is Born.

Tickets are priced at £32.50.

According to the website, audio from the film will be played via bluetooth or aux in your car and there will also be a pop-up bar with popcorn, soft drinks and alcohol available. Cars will also be given “ample room following social distance guidelines”, so that people will be able to sit or stand outside their cars to watch the film.

Rocketman (Paramount Pictures)

People looking to splash out can also purchase a Premium ticket, which includes deck chairs, a table and popcorn. Sadly, the Queen seems unlikely to be in attendance as she is currently at her Scottish residence of Balmoral.

Those looking to purchase a ticket should snap them up quick, as there are only roughly 50 spaces available per viewing. Tickets can be purchased through the official Sandringham Estate website here.
