Queen's Platinum Jubilee: ITV viewers raise concerns of 'animal cruelty' at event

ITV viewers were left feeling concerned at the "awful" coverage of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration, as concerns were raised for the animals utilised in the show.

Thousands of performers came together to celebrate the Queen's 70-year reign on the throne, as they paid tribute in a special theatrical event, reports YorkshireLive.

The Celebration show took place live on Sunday night, in front of a 4,000 strong audience at the scene, and was also broadcast live on ITV.

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham were enjoying themselves as they showcased the special show from an on-site studio outside the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Ahead of the Queen's arrival on the scene, the presenting duo spoke to a number of A-list celebrities, including Tom Cruise.

And the show began as the Queen was shown sitting in the Royal box, donning a cheery grin and a grey cardigan, and an embellished blue dress.

Throughout the event, many performers took to the stage, like dancers and instrumentalists, however it was the segment of the performance that included show horses, that had viewers concerned.

As well as the controversial rumour that the show was pre-recorded instead of broadcast live, the wellbeing of the horses was in question.

One Twitter user wrote: "Not keen on seeing horses be made to lie down like that. #queensjubilee.”

Another said: "Cruel to the horses. I’m switching over. #QueensJubilee.”

And a third wrote: "Why couldn’t ITV show this live on the actual nights it happened? Instead of the shoddy edited version on one night. #queensjubilee.”

Another commented: "Had been looking forward to this but what a disappointment. Its messy and boring quite frankly #queensjubilee.”

A fifth added: "So this performance isn't live and is possibly mashed together from the whole week's performances.”

More users said: "#queensjubilee I saw the show on Friday... this ITV broadcast isn't it. It's out of sequence, missing segments Making no sense And certainly isn’t "live" What a disappointment.”

And even more responded: "I’m confused, is this live or not? The section with Philip in had ‘live’ on the screen but now that’s gone and the clip of Princess Anne seemed to be from yesterday?”

Finally, one added: "#queensjubilee itv should hang their heads in shame for producing this complete rubbish.”
