'Queen's Park Angel' appeal raises funds for family of seven-year-old girl stabbed to death in Bolton

A fundraiser to support the family of a seven-year-old girl who was killed in a horrific stabbing has raised £1,000 in just 24 hours.

In an astonishing community effort, 82 people have donated money for the ‘Queen's Park Angel’ who died following an 'unprovoked and random attack' on Sunday afternoon.

The youngster was out with her family in Queen’s Park, just outside Bolton town centre, when she was attacked. A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and has since been detained under the mental health act.

Following the incident, a charity page was set up on campaign website GoFundMe, with the aim of raising £1,000 for the girl’s family.

Adrian Harrison, set up the page and has been seeking support through Facebook, he posted: “Just donate a pound or anything, then as soon as we find out who the parents are of this awful tragedy we can give them the money.”

He added: “As soon as we find out who they are, all the money will be sent to them, I can't even begin to imagine how they are feeling.”

In less than 24 hours since the page was set up, the fundraiser has generated all of its £1,000 target, with Mr Harrison hoping to make contact with the family of the girl to hand over the money.
